If your work has felt tense, your dog can also feel it.
A new study published in scientific reports reveals that stress from work can affect your dog at home.
The research, led by Tanya Metropoulos and Allison Andrukonis, shows that when dog owners inhabit after hours, a habit known as “work -related rumors”, their pets show more signs of stress.
Researchers surveyed 85 working dog owners.
They measured stress at work and how often people continued to think about work during their free time.
They then asked how stressed owners thought their dogs were and also traced current behaviors associated with dog stress, such as screaming, steps or worries.
The study found that owners with the highest stress at work were dogs showing more stress -related behaviors.
This connection remained strong even when researchers counted on the other stress at home.
Interestingly, the owners did not always realize that their dogs were stressed.
It was the behavior of a puppy who told the story.
The big factor running the connection? Ruminim.
The owners who took the opinion at home at home were more likely to have stressed dogs.
Thinking about working outside the clock that is seen to spread stress from humanaans to pets.
This idea is known as “Crossover” when one person’s stress flows into others in a home.
Previous research has shown that this happens between spouses, and now there is evidence that can occur between people and their animals.
Dogs are particularly susceptible to the mood of their owners. Scientists call this “emotional climbing”, the idea that dogs can get human feelings through the tone of sound, body language and other delicate signs.
When an owner is confused or frustrated by the stress of work, the dog notes. Over time, this can affect the well -being of the dog.
The study suggests another explanation.
When people are focused on working problems, they can become less patient, more distant or less compatible with routines such as walks and nutrition.
That kind of change in care can also increase stress in dogs.
The authors indicate that Americans are overwhelmingly see their pets as part of the family.
This makes it even more important to understand how our behavior affects them.
According to the words of the study, “employed dog owners can benefit from avoiding relaxed jobs when at home to protect the well -being of man’s best friend.”
Putting work aside when walking through the door does not only help your health.
Helps your dog too.
