One man has spent $ 23K traveling around the world with his two cats – visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris and exploring channels in Amsterdam.
Owner Lazar Joksimovic, 27, took on his two British Shorthairs, King Louie and Todd in 2023.
Since then, Lazarus and his wife, Kathleen Cheng, 28, a medical student, have taken their cats in 10 countries – including Siberia, Spain, France and Mexico.
Cats will travel by lazar and kathleen by plane in a row, or sitting in a chair or in a carrier.
Lazar said he would pay $ 600 a dollar a trip to King Louie and Todd to travel with them.
He said cats want to travel so much that he couldn’t imagine leaving them behind.
“When we dealt with today and Louie, we trained them to be adventurous about the city,” said Joksimovic, a content creator from Agoikago, Illinois. “Chicikago is a loud city and when we got them, we gradually exposed them to the sound of the city. I.”
In August 2023, Joksimovic brought King Louie home, and next month, he got Todd.
As he wanted to be able to make them traveling, Joksimovic would take King Louie and Todd about Agoikagos to get used to loud noise.
“After getting them, we went to parks and shopping malls to take them loudly,” Joksimovic added. “They were very adaptable. A week after we got them, we started taking them out. We gradually exposed them in noisy environment like shopping malls and city center.”
Louie and Todd’s first trip was to the hometown of Lazarus in Toronto, Canada, before Lazar and Kathleen take them to Mexico City in April 2024.
Lazar said the four-hour flight was “easy” for them, and Mexico City felt “very peaceful” compared to Agoicagon.
“They were eight months old when we went to Mexico City, we were there for five days,” Joksimovic broke out. “It was a four-hour flight. They did very well, until then they had gone around all loudly to Agoikago. For them, Mexico the city felt very quiet, the key is for cats to be designed for the loud surroundings, so they are used to it.”
After visiting Mexico City, Lazar took Todd and Louie on a European trip – visiting Hungary, the Netherlands, Croatia and Montenegro.
He said Louie and Todd wanted to stroll through the streets of Paris and use Amsterdam’s “quiet” channels.
Paris is much quieter than Agoikago, and cats wanted to stroll through the streets, “Joksimovic said.” They loved bridges, gave them a beautiful view of the surroundings. In Amsterdam, the canals were so calm, they wanted to smell the air around the canals and watch the passing ships. “
When it comes to flying with Todd and Louie, Lazar said on average he would speak $ 600 on a pets’ care ticket to both cats.
He said some countries also require evidence of rabies vaccine and a travel health ticket, which can cost up to $ 500.
“A ticket for pets in general with American Airlines and most European airlines are $ 150, so a round trip with them will be like $ 600,” Joksimovic said. “One of the biggest costs we have is the travel health ticket we have to get for them. This can be up to $ 500, and it’s only worth a trip.”
Lazar said some of the challenges they face when flying is when Todd and Louie are not allowed by their carrier, but said most of the airlines have allowed them to sit in the place near Lazarus.
“At first, Louie was very weak, he wasn’t too cold like Todd,” Joksimovic added. “For Louie we were put out daily for half an hour because he would be nervous about loud noises. One thing Louie hates is limited to his carrier on the plane.
