Here is a property that is directly from the central casting.
Former Stanley Kubrick’s H Hertfordshire’s House – the place where he organized the likes of “The Shining”, “2001: A Odyssey Space”, and “A Clockwork Orange” among others – has just come to the market for a blocking price: nearly $ 9 million.
The English Eight Bedroom, known as Abbots Mead, is located in Barnet Lane in Elstree, just outside London. It is being traded by Savills, according to a release of brokerage sent on Friday.
And for serious film buffs, it’s not just any country manor – it’s a shrine for cinematic history.
The late Kubrick, born in New York, bought the property in 1965 and spent 14 years intensely productive there. He died in 1999.
Thanks to his proximity to Elstree Studios, the attractive Autour was able to manage everything, from production and editing to pioneers of special effects without leaving his 2nd complex.
“We are very fortunate to have the privilege of selling many excellent homes that have a rich and diverse history. However, it is rare that somewhere has such a film -making connection, unless it is used as a place for filming,” Steven Spencer, chief of office statement.
Spencer added, “Proximity to Elstree Studios make it the perfect base for Kubrick and his family, but he also works hard from home – managing all the footage of four films from his extraordinary work body without his four walls.”
Located behind the iron gates forged and marked with a blue memorial plaque, the 7,700 -square -foot manor brings out the old school grace and the shine of the old school. Think of ornate corners, growing ceilings, marble fires, a carved ladder and a drawing room that opens for a sun -wet conservative.
The main suite comes complete with a breast window, a dressing room and its bathrooms-ardhers. There are also five other bedrooms on the top floor, plus a studio for any movie buffs hoping to follow in the footsteps of Kubrick.
But the wealth does not end there: a detached lodge with the four bedrooms of its own bedroom and the private garden sits on the bases, along with a two -room apartment rooted on a separate garage.
Outside, manicure gardens give the place a wisteria -coated peril, a pool, a pool house with a sauna and even a small orchard.
“Quite besides its story, Abbots Mead is a hand -per -per seated house,” Spencer said.
“Well -proposed rooms provide generous family space with a sense of greatness, while roasted trees at the garden borders fully provide intimacy and are the perfect background for a beautiful environment.”
And while it can feel like a world far away, property is a quick trip to London thanks to the Elstree and Borehamwood station.
