Starbucks decided to debut for a new drink – filled with protein: ‘This thing will be a rocket’

Even Starbucks are throwing the protein trend.

If you have been online in recent months, you probably see an increase in interest in foods and heavy protein drinks.

Now, Starbucks is testing a new way to add 15 grams of protein to almost every drink immediately.

The coffee giant is testing a cold protein foam in five places in the US through its start -up program. Part a part of CEO Brian Niccol’s Hope to expand to the Wellness category, the company announced during the Leading Leadership experience in Las Vegas.

“This will be a rocket,” Niccol said on stage in Las Vegas. “On is on trend. Delicious delicious.”

Niccol explained to Axio that the new innovation is clothing towards a number of groups of customers, such as 20-year-old men, 50-year-old females and people taking GLP-1.

“I was watching people coming to our stores, they would get three espresso shots on the ice,” Niccol explained. “And in some cases, they pull their protein dust from their bag, or in other cases, they have a protein drink, like a straight life, and they will pour it into their drink.”

“I’m like, well, wait a second, we can make this experience better for them,” he added.

Currently there is a huge push for protein with General Z, with various recipes and trends such as “100 grams of protein day” that goes viral in tiktok.

And with the continuous elevation of GLP-1 drugs, research has shown that a high protein diet is essential for muscle maintenance with injectable appetite treatments.

“The good news is now I think we are right in the trend, and we can do it, I think, maybe better than anyone else,” Niccol said.

According to Fast Company, the cold protein foam will be identical to the cold foam that Starbucks customers know and love – but it will be filled with somewhere between 15 and 18 grams of protein.

The world’s largest coffee chain is reported to initially imagine that the protein mix would simply mix in the drink, but continued to become clumsy – something for which protein dust consumers could know one or two things – and they wanted to solve that problem.

The development team found that mixing the dust in foam was saved from the clumps, which led to the innovation of cold foam proteins.

Starbucks showed that their protein powder should be able to be added to any of its cold foam odors, but the actual version of the test is a cold foam in banana, reported FOODIDED. They are starting testing with icy Starbucks Caffe Latte.

While being tested in just five locations at the moment, Niccol told Axio that he thinks that the release of cold protein foam will be sooner than later.

“It’s not one of those things that are years away. They’re months away,” he said.
