Everyone wants to save a dish while flying, but a “hack” of a ticketer trip not to pay luggage fees are exploding as dangerous.
Jason Steinberg posted the first video in his series “Hacks Journey Journey”, in which he teaches travelers to hide a second transfer inside an airport to avoid paying a luggage fee.
In Tiktok, Steinberg encourages travelers to go to the airport early and find a “safe place” to leave the second bag. He encouraged people to leave it in a simple look, in a cafe or put it with other people’s bags. When checking, Steinberg says passengers have to say they have a purse and they want it to weigh, letting it grab the second bag and get it on the plane.
While Steinberg, who posts traveling with Jay Berg, successfully dumped the fee in his video, travel experts warn that his “hack” can violate airport security regulations, cause a terminal interruption, or simply stole your beauties.
Send Adam Ewart to my bag I told Indy 100 that after Steinberg’s direction was not a good idea and could lead to panic over unattended luggage.
Adam Ewart travel expert from Send My Bag suggests that this type of advice is not only unethical but extremely unsafe.
“We all know the disappointment of setting up your bag in the luggage scales, just to discover it is above the border and you will have to pay extra. But this hack is not only dishonest, it’s dangerous,” Ewart said.
“You should never leave your luggage unattended at an airport, full stop. Not only can they be stolen, but unattended bags can cause large security concerts and even evacuations.
“The consequences exceed the cost of a few pounds above the border.”
To avoid any stress on your baggage, Ewart encourages travelers to use secure (and ethical) hacks to save money in the baggage.
“If you are worried about overweight luggage, there are much safer and easier ways to sit down. Start by packing smarter – roll clothes instead of folding, limit your shoes and weigh your bag at home,” he said.
“And if you need more than your airline allows, consider shipping luggage forward with a dedicated service as you send my bag. It can be much more cost effective, especially for students or migrants.”
