That’s why it’s there: while the temps get up, they get out of yellowjackets and wasps. And apparently, they have one thing for dark, cozy mailboxes.
If, of course, there is something there you do not like: scored dryer sheets.
That is why postal carriers across the country are returning to the impossible weapon.
“We’re almost in May that means … the return of those wild devils,” a postal worker wrote on a reddit after this is buzzing online and reappearing the time -time method for time for the sixth summer.
“We have discovered that they hate the SCED dryer sheets,” the aforementioned letter carrier revealed. “If we encounter a box that is a nest problem, we will often put one there and it does.”
So before you withdraw and think that your home is marked for a home occupation – yes, someone in all three sailed that theory – consider this PSA official: leave the sheet alone.
“I can’t tell you how many times … I’ve opened a box to see a small nest with 3-5 yellowjackets just chillin,” the same carrier wrote. “Just last year I got up 10 times in 10 separate cases.”
And these are not soft greetings by nature. “We all know how temperature these small luggage is,” the mail added. “Simply existing in their presence is enough to deceive them.”
The trick is not just a fringe tactic – the Redditors have called for saying it is working in restaurants as well. “We learn a long action to place some dryer sheets under the tablecloths in the Spanish courtyard,” wrote one Californian. “Yellowjackets often get into the tiles of guards, especially if they smell salmon.”
The aroma is the secret sauce – not the brand. And while it is a useful obstacle, it is not an adjustment for complete infections.
“This should only be used as a preventative measure,” the postal carrier explained. “It would be best to get rid of the big nest and then put a dryer sheet to keep them not return.”
Think twice before declaring your mailbox an area without lavender technically, it’s not yours either.
“If you are in the US your mailbox is not personal property,” recalled a commenter. “The inner part of the box is federal.”
The original poster summarized it best: “I had to put the dryer sheets in several different boxes on my way and the customers have removed them. So I just wanted to make a psi.”
And before you think that mail letters are one thing of an era past, you may be surprised to learn that Gen Zers and Millennials are sending the snail mail, according to a study conducted by stamps.com last fall.
As reported earlier by The Post, Nick Spitzman, General Manager of Stamps.com, the study said, “Our research shows that the mail is still very important today.”
Nearly 65% of people still send letters and packages every month, and almost half of zoomers throw something in the mail one or twice a month.
About 37% of Americans say personal touch is what seals the deal when it comes to snail mail – nothing beat the emotion of a handwritten note.
For 41% of General Xers, it is about the act of sending themselves, while 32% of General Zers just want to know that their package will not fantasize them.
