Gold coin collection was discovered after a wall after the owner’s death sells – for nearly $ 4 million

In general, it was hiding behind only another brick on the wall.

A collection of rare gold coins almost lost in history after its owner passed away has received nearly $ 4 million in auction.

The gilded stream was massively lifelong by numismatic Paul Narce, who lived in Castillonnès, France, until his death last year in 89, reported The Times of London.

“I’ve never been such a big collection in sale from the point of view of quantity and quality,” said the third party of the currency expert in a pre -sale state, which went down to the home of beautiful Lefèvre members in Paris, CNN reported.

“Narce, who lived a modest life and not saw much the world, spent all his money in his collection,” Parsy said.

His rare prices were strictly labeled – the collection is reported to have more than a thousand pieces, some dating back centuries.

These include pieces from the Kingdom of Macedonia, dating back to 336-323 BC, and nearly complete groups of coins exchanged during the reign of French kings Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI including some before the latter’s execution in 1793.

Parsy said Narce clearly “knows what he was buying”, which seemed unusual given that he was unknown.

In fact, the currency expert said the treasure would be found “could have been permanently undiscovered” – had the notary responsible for the wealth of the deceased not heard of unique Narce hobby by local villagers.

The elderly collector had no children or heirs and was transferred to a nursing home after his sister Claudette, with whom he gathered the coins, passed away a year ago.

Along with the aforementioned collection, they found “Gothic art masterpieces” and ten bags of clothes, each containing 172 “Napoléons” (Golden Coins 20 Francis) – reaching a golden rod.

After wide search of the property, the notary finally placed the treasure breast – hidden behind the figure on the wall of a storage room.

The coin collection passed under $ 3.8 million, exceeding the pre-candidate rating of about $ 2.3 million.

Meanwhile, the francs, worth about $ 115,650, will be in auction separately.

The money will go important to the distant Narce cousins.

Pierre Sicaud, the leader of the Castillonnès leader, could not believe that the elder and his sister had massaged such an extraordinary collection under the radar.

“They were very polyte, very modest people living in an ordinary home,” he explained.
