Have you ever removed from your computer on track by booking a flight just to find the price is greatly increased when you come back? Coincidence? Or are you playing online tricks on the Internet?
Some travelers swear to “hacks” to avoid growth as clear cookies, going without knowledge or change equipment. These price -stupid travelers believe that airlines and travel sites follow your activity and raise prices based on your interest.
But is this just paranoia, or is there any truth in theory?
While it is a popular theory among passengers, there is no strong evidence that the constant search for a flight causes an increase in price.
According to industry experts, those growing tariffs are less about spying on the website for your activity and more about the basics of supply and question. Chances are likely to have fewer places available whenever you check the flight information. Flights fluctuate in price constantly – but there are market trends, not your browsing history that is usually blamed.
“There is a common misunderstanding that repeated research behavior will lead not only to another but higher result,” said travel expert Katy Nastro.
Nastro added that these so -called hacks to guarantee a lower price are only online hearing.
“There is no reliable source of data that suggests that repeated search is tracked and therefore manipulated at higher prices,” she concluded.
Nastro and her team run thousands of flight research every week, and have even tested different theories, but did not see any difference. It summarized price fluctuations as simply “seeing the movement of the market in real time”.
Airlines, she explained, have “from the bucket”, or a certain number of places they want to sell for a specific price at a given moment. When those who sell, the price will seem to rise. Nastro also noted that airlines use dynamic algorithms that reassess real -time costs; So if something happens to your destination, the price of fuel jumps, or a large group of books some of the places, it is likely that the price for a ticket can rise.

Moreover, Nastro explains: “When you see that prices fluctuate in real time, you are seeing the airlines trying to adapt based on those factors.” They have made buckets. “
Think like this: Airlines share a certain number of seats in each bucket for a given period, although all allocations may be moved based on the factors mentioned earlier. Once the X -shake bucket has become, a new bucket, often with the highest price, takes its place. So, when you notice unexpected jumps or flights in flight, you are likely to see the buckets that are updated in real time.
“When you see the prices to fluctuate in real time, you are seeing the airlines trying to adapt based on those factors,” Nastro said.
Sophia Lin, which oversees travel and local products at Google Search, agreed that “ticket prices are constantly changing and updated in different data providers, even from second to second. And every day, our systems are counting a large number of possible travel ticket combinations.”
“Incognito way, browsing history, search history or change equipment will not affect the prices we show on Google Flight.” She adds, “unfortunately for the researchers of the deals, it is not true,” Lin said.
The founder of the dollar flight club, Jesse Neugarten, also weighed, claiming that what really travels travelers is a mixture of normal from outdated or stored changes and information – a combination that can make prices look dancing for no reason.
“While it is a widely kept belief that flight prices rise more to seek a road, there is no difficult evidence that browsing history or repeated research only causes prices directly,” he explained. “Searching for incognito mode or cleaning cookies can prevent your browser from showing stored results, which can make it look like prices have changed
“In most cases, the underlying price, especially when powered by predictive algorithms, is not associated with your cookies. It is fluctuated second for real -time inventory changes and questions.”
