The city’s slickers are throwing roots in Elmhurst, Illinois – where the grass is really greener just outside the city’s borders.
An outskirts once sleepy just west of Agoikagos is seeing a wave of newcomers and with them, a fast -speed housing market.
Elmhurst, located approximately 15 miles from the city center, is pulling the inhabitants with its roads, strong schools and close to the meters train, which gives the travelers in the loop in under 20 minutes.
“Almost all the people moving inside are coming from the city – and they are ready to speak,” Molly Wheel, a real estate agent who has lived in Elmhurst for more than three decades, told the days Mail in an interview.
“Plus, there are so many new buildings and so many houses that are being built.”
At an average home price about $ 500,000, the area offers relatively affordability to buyers at the price of the essential neighborhoods of Agoikagos.
But prices are climbing quickly.
“We’ve seen a huge increase in the last three years only,” Radoha said.

Families are also withdrawn from schools. The graduation of the public high school is close to 96% and local Catholic schools offer education through eighth grade.
The presence of Elmhurst University adds to a sense of college city, and some graduates stay around after finishing school, Radoha noted, citing the easy access to the city in Agoikago.
Elmhurst hosts annual events like Rock The Block, which closes York’s path to food, drinks and live music. During the summer weekends, a free carriage is connected in the city center with South Elmhurst.
“You can ride, go out to dinner, hit a bar. All without getting into your car,” Radoha said.
The location of the periphery is also a key point of sale.
“You can get in any interstate in five minutes,” she said. “Location is invincible.”
The growing popularity of Elmhurst even captured the attention of an international art program.
In 2023, the city became the six city that hosted Umbrella Sky Project, a Portuguese installation containing more than 300 colorful umbrellas suspended over pedestrian crossings.
“I always say that this can be the best periphery in Illinois – and people are finally caught,” Radoha said.
