Waldorf-Astoria Hotel promises it will finally reopen in September after numerous delays

Cue Up Cole Porter!

The iconic Waldorf-Astoria hotel, once at home at the big Broadway composer, but closed for eight years, will finally reopen in Gujore in September later than Hilton promised to be, and after four previous delays since the closing of the hotel in 2017.

A post on Hilton Instagram says, “The iconic hotel is set to welcome Guests once again this next September.”

A Waldorf-Astoria New York spokesman told The Post, “We expect to open our dogs faster. Our exact opening date is still being determined.”

An industry source said: “No wonder they are careful. Whenever they were looking for a reopening, it didn’t happen.”

A reopening will be a relief for Hilton, which has remained 90 years in a 100-year management contract. Waldorf was first praised to reopen in 2021, 2023, 2024 and, more recently, this spring.

Waldorf-Astoria is loved by New Yorkers and visitors to its architecture Art Deco and internal treasures like a peacock alley with the piano of Cole Porter, which will again appear.

Numerous media media have followed the managing director of the hotel Luigi Romaniello, his decorators, a restaurant called Lex Yard Run by the Gurarcy Talern Chef Michael Anthony – and also the incorrect opening schedules.

A Hilton website post for staff uniforms “designed by no uniform, specialized design studio led by the well -known British Couture Nicholas Oakwell”, also included the September reopening date.

Building sources told The Post in February that Waldorf’s spring target could not be met and the hotel would not be ready to receive Gujore until October.

Hilton operates several dozen hotels and resorts around the world called the “Waldorf Astoria Collection”. But sources said Hilton’s costumes were “insulting private” for repeated delays to return original Waldorf to Avenue Park.

Hilton sold the property mounted on China’s Anbang insurance group for $ 1.95 billion in 2015. Anbang was to turn more than half of the historic point into luxury Condos while reducing 1,400 guest rooms and suites to 375, although new ones would be larger than the original.

But while the $ 2 billion construction project plus was introduced, Anbang’s chief executive was jailed by the Chinese government in 2018. A new company, Daija Insurance Group, took over Waldorf-but proved a little faster than its predecessor.

New Waldorf boasts 375 Luxury Condo units, some of which have begun to receive residents.

Sources said Daija’s rage to finish valuable Condos studios just less than $ 2 million to praise four-bedroom units up to $ 15 million more attention. “The hotel part was not on the fast track,” said one source.
