Should you give you a switch to your hydration?
Gatorade is an easy and cost-effective way to regulate your electrolyte when you feel dehydrated-but if you are looking at your sugar or color water, a nutritionist has a DIY version that is without both ingredients.
Claire Sorlie recently shared a recipe in tiktok for what she calls “Gatorade of Nature”, a drink she says has been around the centuries and has only a small part of the ingredients.
“Switchel is an electrolyte -rich drink that has actually been around for a long time,” she said.
“It’s is also referring to” Punch Haymaker “because American farmers drank it to stay hydrated and keep it fresh.”
Indeed, after being used to refresh the field works, Switch is a summer drink also known as Switchzel, Swizzle and Switchy.
It consists of only six ingredients simply found in your pantry: apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, maple syrup, minced ginger, sea salt and water.
The Sorlie recipe calls for the addition of a cup of ginger peeled into six glasses of water in a two -quarter pot, bringing it to a boil and leaving it boiling for an extra 20 minutes.
Place a cup of lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and maple syrup – and a top of the Celtic sea jump – masonry jar or pitcher, along with the tense ginger water.

To make it even more refreshing after you are ready to serve, Sorlie recommends adding some carbonated water or a mint branch to raise your glass.
“So good and good for you,” she said.
Its viewers have deceived the recipe, with many share their unique variations – such as using green tea instead of water to taste extra and health benefits, or eliminate syrup in the interest of consuming less sugar.
“My grandfather always had this when working his farm,” commented a fan.
“Just did that!
For what is worth, maple syrup is a natural sweetener that contains small amounts of minerals such as manganese and zinc and avoids blood sugar drops associated with refined sugar.
Meanwhile, ginger is an anti-inflammatory power plant that can soothe headaches and upset stomach.
Sea salt gives essential electrolytes that support hydration, nervous function and muscle balance – especially after sweating.
Lemon juice provides a stroke of vitamin C and antioxidants, which can support immune function and help the body absorb minerals more effectively.
And apple cider cider vinegar has long been predicted as a miracle remedy that can be used for anything practical from losing weight – until digestive aid to soothing sore throat, skin issues and migraines.
While no amount of alcohol is considered healthy these days, switchel can be enjoyed as a non-alcoholic-or or can add a white rum ounce, we would not say.
Cheers!
