Americans are striving for harmony at home more than ever – turning the backyard into a holy place has been named the biggest outdoor trend for 2025.
A study of 2,000 homeowners explored their home aspirations and goals for 2025 and found the most popular foreign house trends that people are looking to implement this year are creating home backyards (41%), adding fibers and outdoor heating elements (38%), and making their spaces. (37%).
The results also showed a real feeling to use as much as our outdoor space and increase the time in the clean air plan-67%) to spend more time outside than previous years.
In fact, homeowners are estimating 11.7 hours a week outside in their homes this year compared to 9.6 hours a week spent outside last year – this is a 22%increase.
Performed by Talker Research on behalf of Trex Company, the survey also revealed that four in 10 homeowners have concrete plans to renovate the outside of their home this year.
This is a project that many say is worth it, as 40% of homeowners reported to spend at least 30 minutes in their outside space every day.
At the top of the list of projects that participants are most interesting in the end of this year were the landscapes (34%), the construction of a Spanish or new deck (25%) and the improvement of their outdoor lighting options (25%).
When asked how far they appreciate that it is their backyard from being their dream space, the average response was 45%.
Only 10% said they would not change anything about their outdoor space.
“Homeowners are recovering their outdoor space not only as stretching of their homes, but as essential attraction for relaxation, connection and comfort,” said Jodi Lee, senior marketing vice president for Trex Company. “From fire pits to features of intimacy, it is clear that the year 2025 is about personalized creation, livable, reflecting individual style and supporting living in nature throughout the year.”
Another motivator for homeowners to invest in the outside of their home? The impact it would have on the value of their home.
Eighty -seven percent think that the improvement of their front and home yards will increase the value of resuming their property.
The survey also revealed how many homeowners predict they will cost their dream exterior, mentioning $ 13,321 on average.
How they would like to go for these plans is a mix. Thirty -three percent would prefer to do them, while 28% said they prefer to hire a professional.
Thirty -four percent likely to make a combination of both.
What is most important for homeowners is sustainability. Sixty-eight percent of respondents said they are ensuring that their renovations were made from eco-infant materials and patterns of energy presentation.
“We’re seeing more people who want to create spaces where they can slow down, let go and enjoy being out,” Lee added. “As everyday life becomes more busy and more digital, the backyard has become one of the few places that people can break away, find a little quiet and spend time with family and friends in their conditions. This is what is really directing these changes – personal space and restaurant.”
