A rare part of the glow of the gilded era is returning to the market.
A large upper East East East Side apartment from the former Side of the Joseph Pulitzer House House is set to market for $ 6 million.
Located on the 73rd eastern road between the fifth roads and Madison, the rich settlement occupies the second floor of the former Pulitzer Resident, designed by architect Stanford White in the style of a 17th-century Venetian palace.
Pulitzer, the publisher of the Trailblazing newspaper and the name of the Pulitzer Prize of Journalism, which at one point owned the largest circulation newspaper in the world, lived at home for the last eight years of his life.
Commanded with consistency and peace in mind after a fire destroyed his former home, the residence was built with the then cutting of sound insulation-including triple train windows, thick walls and even with ball strips down the flowers to deceive the clutter of passing, releases.
The building was transformed into 17 individual inhabitants in the 1930s and restructured as co-op in the 1950s.
This special apartment, coming to the market for the first time in 20 years, is being sold by an 84-year-old Tiffany & Co. Designer Accessory, who has spent most of her retirement living there with her dog, said Douglas Elliman’s Natalie Rakowski agent in the release, quoted for the first time by Global Management.
The two -bedroom unit holds many of its original details, including the deep oak works that were carefully removed and installed again during conversion.
The main living area contains excess windows, a fireplace and 19-foot ceilings from which are double.
A large staircase with stone column marks the center of the house, while one of the most eccentric features is a two -storey bath with a ladder leading to a damp sunk tub.
A terrace directs the length of the apartment and supervises the 73rd path.
For buyers who see even more greatness, the Penthouse of the building – complete with its pumpkin court – is currently on sale, listed by Sotheby’s long auction, David Redden.
