An id family is in the adventure of a life after selling everything they possess to explore the high season.
Despite having never sailed before, Brandon and Amber Morse and their children now live in a Catamaran in the Caribbean.
And while it has always been easy, they say the experience has changed it all for good.
The family â tells realtor.comâ® â why they have chosen to live a little different life.
In 2020, Morses were a typical family living in ID with both parents working full -time work and a busy schedule of educational and extracurricular activities for their four children. However, it was during the Covid-19 pandemic that the family initially began to sit down with the “saved” idea of their normal.
“I was working as a nurse at the time, so there was a tremendous stress he was holding around. Amber.
“We felt like we were kissing them in bed every night just to send the door in the morning no Truly Looking at them up to the next kiss of sleep. “
So the couple initially began to talk about what would be life if they left their jobs, sell one of their cars, rented their fully furnished home, educated the children at home, “and then packaged in an RV to travel in the country.
They then turned it into a reality.
“When we were three months on our RV trip, we begin to think about returning to status Quo … and almost felt like debris because it had taken so much work to cut it with our previous lives, ”Amber says.
She was Amber’s eldest daughter and Brandon, Jadyn, who actually began a conversation with the sailing because she would have a high school friend whose family had done her for several weeks.
They found themselves “down a rabbit hole on YouTube and finding families living in full time in their sailing boats, sailing the world.”
“What is learned is courage creates courage, and it was just because of the baby’s steps that it took to go properly that we can even see us doing something else,” Amber says.
Sale of everything to win a life full of adventure
Morses had bought their identity home only nine months before their travel to the Pandemic year.
The five -bedroom house with a pond in the back and a neighborhood pool at their peak was the largest house they would ever owned.
“The most enjoyable cars, a more beautiful home”, none of them felt fulfilled, “says Amber.
“We know that we will need capital from our home in order to afford a kind of sailing boat that can fit six quiet people,” Amber says.
They put their home in the market and sold it in three weeks.
Transfer from a house to boat living
Step next – besides sending Brandon to School School – was to buy a boat.
“Boats are like houses in the sense that you can find a boat that matches your budget” from the trailer park style to the yacht, “Brandon says. It happens in the first five years.”
However, they also knew they would need a boat that was big enough to “shelter” a six family with easily.
After all, they chose a 450 lagoon, which is a four -cabin model, with each cabin that has its own bath and shower.
“For our six -year -old family, this felt like a size we could manage for sailing, but also for the living space for the family,” Brandon says.
“Since older children all have their own booths, they must have their intimacy and they can treat it as their rooms, so they brought things that feel more special with them,” Amber says. “Brandon and I also have our cabin, and fortunately, we all have closing doors.”
Together with the four booths, they have a main “Saloon” area that includes the gallery (kitchen), the cruise table and their living room “, all”, which has a high place plus a place to decide for eight people.
Making finance work for a family with six years old at sea
Understanding how to do their new living work, they received financial planning, especially after Brando and the rooms left their jobs. However, being entrepreneur and sustainable, they are coming forward.
To begin with, Morses used the money from their sale at home to pay for their catamaren, which eliminated a mortgage payment, property taxes and service bills.
Now their only “Billi” bill is diesel for motors and boat generator, but they can spend months without having to “start”. Brandon also installed a massive solar charging system that loads a large battery bank, which allows the family to live out of the grid.
“We don’t go to the marina, and we rarely have to run our generator,” Amber says. “We do everything with free power” from cooking, to make water with our water manufacturer of saltwater desalion, to direct our water heater. “
For money, in addition to living outside their savings for a while, they also rent a duplex they own.
Recently, they have begun to get the work of creating content from some companies and brands, and they have an Amazon site for “essential articles for boat life” from which they win a small commission.
“Cooking in a small gallery has its challenges, but I also didn’t understand how much I would enjoy using whatever source we have in hand as a creative outlet,” Amber says. “I even take for the first time making sour bread, and in fact before the life of the boat, I never had bread in my entrance life.”

All boat operating systems are quite complex, and Brandon should oversee two large diesel engine and one generator.
“When a system will not work properly, it can fully put a break in our living situation,” Brandon says.

But on the rolling side, their days are filled with wonder and new experiences. Mornings usually start with a snorkel, and children – now aged 19, 14 (Gemini) and 8â € “have made friends from all over the world.
